Abbey Studies Health of Britons’ Personal Finances
If an unbiased person were to rate your personal finance habits, how do you think you would score? If you’re like the majority of Britons, your finances aren’t all that healthy.
Abbey has recently released findings from their survey, which studied the healthiness of Britons’ personal finances. The scores were computed as if they were physical fitness marks, ranging from 0, as perfectly physically fit, to 100, representing financial obesity. The study found that a meagre 1% of Britons scored in the physically fit range (a ten or below), with excellent control over their spending and saving habits. 46% of women, on the other hand, and 41% of men surveyed, came in as “overweight.”
Regionally, the Abbey study showed that England is home to the greatest number of personal finance offenders, with 46% “overweight;” The UK ranked a bit better, with only 42%; and Wales and the south-west scored the best.
What does one make of all this financial physical fitness information? Sue Hayes, Abbey Director carries on the analogy, stating: “As many gear up to shift the pounds they pile on over the festive period, we would encourage people to review the financial products they hold and shop around to ensure that they are getting the most competitive deal available. Like exercise, a financial workout can take a bit of effort but for most people the rewards are well worth the exertion.”
